Viewtiful Joe casts Joe as an ordinary tokusatsu and action-movie fan who is dragged into the screen after his girlfriend Sylvia is kidnapped. Once inside Movieland, he gains the Viewtiful Joe suit and fights through staged episodes full of robots, monsters, bosses, and theatrical gags.
The game is built like a compact side-scrolling brawler, but its VFX system gives each fight a puzzle-like rhythm.
