The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a 2024 Nintendo Switch adventure that puts Princess Zelda in the lead and builds its puzzles around copying objects and creatures as echoes.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom returns to the top-down shape of classic Zelda while changing the series' usual point of view. Link disappears into one of the strange rifts spreading across Hyrule, leaving Zelda to travel with the fairy Tri, repair the kingdom, and solve problems with the Tri Rod instead of a traditional sword-and-shield move set.
The central echo system lets Zelda learn objects and enemies from the world, then summon them as tools. Beds become bridges, blocks become steps, monsters become temporary allies, and familiar spaces become small physics and logic problems. Combat still matters, but the game pushes players to improvise with space, timing, enemy behavior, and environmental tricks rather than relying on direct attacks.
Its presentation extends the toy-like, diorama style Grezzo used for the Nintendo Switch remake of Link's Awakening, but Echoes of Wisdom applies it to a new Hyrule with rifts, side-scrolling pockets, dungeons, villages, and familiar Zelda races. The result feels deliberately compact compared with the open-air entries, while still borrowing their emphasis on flexible solutions and player-authored routes through obstacles.
Echoes of Wisdom became notable as Zelda's first starring role in a mainline entry and as a bridge between classic 2D dungeon design and modern systemic play. It earned major 2024 award nominations, including BAFTA Game of the Year and Game Design recognition, and a The Game Awards nomination for Best Family Game.
