Final Fantasy X is Square's 2001 PlayStation 2 role-playing game about Tidus, Yuna, and a pilgrimage across Spira to confront the world-destroying Sin.

Final Fantasy X follows Tidus, a blitzball star from Zanarkand who is pulled into the world of Spira after the colossal creature Sin destroys his home. He joins Yuna, a young summoner from Besaid, as she begins a pilgrimage meant to bring a temporary peace to a society shaped by ritual, grief, and sacrifice.

The game moved the series onto PlayStation 2 with full 3D environments, voice acting, and a more directed structure than the world-map entries before it. Its Conditional Turn-Based Battle system lets players swap party members in and out of fights, while the Sphere Grid gives each character a flexible but readable path for long-term growth.

Spira's islands, temples, ruins, and blitzball stadiums give the journey a distinct tone, mixing tropical pilgrimage imagery with science-fiction remnants and religious politics. The story's focus on Tidus and Yuna made it one of the series' most character-driven entries, with music by Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzu, and Junya Nakano carrying many of its key scenes.

Final Fantasy X became one of the defining Japanese RPGs of the PlayStation 2 era. It drew strong critical notices for its presentation and battle design, received awards attention for animation, and later returned through the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster across PlayStation, PC, Xbox, and Nintendo platforms.
